Educa

Educa is an online early education software that fosters close learning-based relationships between educators and families. The Educa portal contains all information needed by parents to keep track of their child’s progress. This includes newsletters, announcements as well as forms, checklists and school policies.

Educators also upload all your child’s relevant activities, whether individual, group or by class, in a private parent-teacher channel. Educa makes it easier for parents to engage in their child’s activities through photo and video-sharing.

Parents can access the Educa portal here:

Our Curriculum

At Kookaburra Early Learning, we believe the early childhood years are an integral part of your child’s growth and development. We recognise your child’s uniqueness and allow them to learn at their own pace.

We follow the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) which is based on the following key concepts:

  • Belonging acknowledges children’s independence with others and the basis of relationships in defining identities.
  • Being recognises the significance of the here and now in children’s lives.
  • Becoming reflects the process of rapid and significant change that occurs in the early years as young children learn and grow.

Our Pedagogy

Our early childhood education programs are composed of planning, observing, analysing, reflecting and doing. By incorporating your child’s daily learnings and experiences, we are able to create a learning program that is beneficial to your child’s abilities and furthers their interest in learning.

We have a learning board that gives us a visual representation of your child’s day and learnings. This is an effective way to encourage communication and feedback among our educators. We are constantly improving our learning assessment processes to make sure your child learns in the most effective way possible.

School Readiness Transition Program

Kookaburra Early Learning has a School Readiness Transitional Program where you and your child can adjust smoothly from pre-school to school. Our readiness programs are carefully planned by our educators and include language, literacy and mathematics-centred activities.

Our educators are working closely with local schools and their teachers to help children and families with the transition process and provide the support they need to ensure the transition goes well.

Movement

Munch & Move is NSW Health initiative that supports the healthy development of children birth to 5 years by promoting physical activity, healthy eating and reduced small screen time (e.g. watching TV or DVDs, playing on computers and small hand-held games devices).

Munch & Move offers training and resources to educators working in NSW early childhood education and care services. The training aims to assist educators to implement a fun, play-based approach to supporting healthy eating and physical activity habits in young children. The Munch & Move program fits within the new National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework.

Gardening

Our Miss Suzy’s Gardening Club Program is focused on teaching your child the importance of taking care of the environment. We have general gardening sessions where our students learn how to cultivate and take care of plants, create and apply compost and learn from our sustainability sessions.

Bus-A-Bout Library Trips

From our involvement with the community, we are currently visiting with the Richmond Valley Library. We believe this is assisting us to embed fundamental outcome into children’s development.

Over the past nine months, the children have been involved in several activities that have embedded, empathy, involvement, communication, collaboration, belonging and respect.

From participating in these community events, we have been able to allow children to develop their understanding of community from their own experience, rather than from a teacher-initiated environment.

Children have been supported to tack control of their learning through these scenarios to better develop their ability to Belong and become a community member. The takeaway for our children is that if they have something worth contributing, take ownership of it and the whole community will benefit.
